American artist Rolf Armstrong (1889–1960) was celebrated for his glamorous depictions of women, particularly in his calendar designs and magazine covers. Dubbed the “creator of the calendar girl” by the New York Times in 1960, Armstrong worked in a commercial capacity from 1912 to 1960, primarily using pastels for his original artwork.
