Jolita Vaitkutė asserts that love is a fundamental human need, akin to sustenance, and surpasses cultural conventions. In her collection of vegetable-based artwork, titled “Hungry for Love,” she portrays genuine romantic tales utilizing actual kisses.
Each portrait requires meticulous planning and observation, with the vegetables being pre-cut to prevent spoilage. Jolita derives pleasure from incorporating unconventional materials, including landfill soil and debris from destroyed houses, to produce contemplative works such as ” (Not) Eternal Values” and “REBIRTH” BIRDBOXES. Her aspiration is that her art stimulates introspection and drives efforts to minimize waste while aiding those impacted by conflict.
