Airbnb has recently introduced Shrek’s Swamp, a unique and thrilling find for fans of the beloved character. Situated in the Scottish Highlands, this small hut, covered in grass and mud, is tucked away beneath a tree. It is a tranquil and secluded retreat perfectly suited for those seeking solace, just like the famous ogre himself.

The charming and comfortable home is hosted by Donkey, Shrek’s closest companion. Donkey is currently taking care of the swamp while Shrek is away for Halloween. What makes it particularly intriguing is that Donkey himself has written the Airbnb description. In his description, Donkey expresses his adoration for every aspect of the swamp: the prominent boulder at the entrance, the simple interior design, and the privacy, which makes it perfect for singing karaoke into the late hours.
“This mud-laden, moss-covered, murky-watered oasis is a perfectly snug spot to escape from village life and embrace the beauty of nature,” Airbnb said.
The unique home accommodates three guests and features a cozy open-plan design. It is furnished with a wooden bed gently leaning against a wall. Additional furniture includes a matching table and two chairs placed in front of a fire, which is supported by two massive tree trunks. The home is adorned with multiple decorations inspired by the Shrek movie, including a green “earwax candle” reminiscent of a scene where Shrek lights a stick of earwax on fire. Furthermore, there is a bedside lamp shaped like a stuffed pufferfish.
In many Shrek films, there is an outhouse located 20 meters from the swamp. It is available for visitors to use. The rustic hut is surrounded by decorative signs like “Stay out,” “Beware Ogre,” and “Danger”! Currently, the home is not available, but it can be booked for a two-night stay from October 27th to October 29th, starting on October 13th. Additionally, a concierge will be present to provide meals for the guests.
