Highest Tiny House: Old Lady Lives Inside Medieval German Tower

Blanca Knodel has been the tower keeper of the Blue Tower in Bad Wimpfen for 27 years. Her job is to let tourists up the tower and collect entrance fees. She lives in the tower rent-free and loves her job. Blanca and her children moved into the tower in 1996, converting it into a livable space. Shopping and climbing stairs have become more difficult for Blanca as she gets older. The tower is not well-insulated, making it cold in winter and hot in summer. In 2017, she had to leave the tower for renovations and returned in 2022. She is thrilled to be back and proud to be a part of the city’s history.
