Paul Sougy collaborated with Dr. Louis Thomas Jérôme Auzoux in the mid-Century, creating a collection of remarkable scientific illustrations. These illustrations were initially designed as expansive charts for classroom walls and significantly influenced a whole generation of French children. However, very little is known about Sougy himself.

Dr. Auzoux’s legacy continues to be celebrated. His 3D papier-mâché plant models have been digitized and exhibited by l’Ecole Supérieure du Professorat et de l’Education, while his intricate models of the human body and insects are displayed at the Whipple Museum in Cambridge, UK.
Sougy is commemorated with a road in his hometown of Orleans and a vast collection of his artwork at Artois University’s library. However, there is scarce information available about the man who created these illustrations.
