Renowned Hong Kong sculptor Johnson Tsang excels in creating ceramics, stainless steel sculptures, and public art. He is skilled in blending realistic sculptural techniques with a touch of surrealism. His works frequently depict expressive human figures intertwined with elastic and fluid elements to convey powerful messages.
He developed a passion for clay 26 years ago, which has provided solace during challenging moments. When his mother fell ill, he sculpted her image using clay. Following her passing, he crafted ‘Earth to Earth’ and ‘Life Clock’ as poignant reflections on the fleeting nature of life. In response to the Wenchuan earthquake in Sichuan, he created “Survival.” Additionally, “Make Tea, Not War!” and “Karma” served as his artistic responses to the U.S. war on Iraq.
Johnson is a man who speaks through his art, expressing his profound emotions and thoughts. He perceives clay as a representation of life, one that embodies goodness and beauty. Johnson believes that molding clay not only shapes his subconscious but also unveils his authentic identity.
Johnson’s creations have been exhibited in Hong Kong, Taiwan, Korea, Spain, and Switzerland, and are highly valued by museums and private collectors worldwide.
