The Greenhouses: A Sustainable and Serene Eco-Village By Lake Geneva

The Greenhouses in Switzerland’s Lake Geneva district is an impressive green architecture project by Vincent Callebaut Architectures. It will feature 480 low-consumption homes, a children’s nursery, restaurants, co-working spaces, workshops, and two panoramic rooftops.

The car-free eco-village will be surrounded by a large urban park, creating an undisturbed landscape. Pedestrians and cyclists will have exclusive access, allowing them to fully immerse themselves in nature.

The park will have open land, flowering meadows, and fruit trees, with cherry trees dominating as a tribute to local history. Water-inspired elements like phyto-purification lagoons and aquaponics systems will be integrated between buildings.

The apartments will have panoramic balconies with exceptional views of the Alps, Lake Geneva, and the Jura. These balconies also come equipped with planters for vegetable gardens, lowering temperatures and filtering solar radiation. Overall, more than 30,000 plants will be able to capture 170 tons of CO2.

The Greenhouses project represents an impressive and inspiring vision for an eco-friendly future.
