Gunhild Larking, a stunning 20-year-old Swedish high jump athlete, anxiously awaited her turn to compete in the Olympic Games.

Although she did not win a medal in the high jump event in Melbourne, photographer George Silk took extensive photos of her, which she appreciated. Larking continued to compete in the 1952 Summer Olympics, 1954 European Athletics Championships, and 1956 Summer Olympics, securing ninth place in 1952 and fourth place in both 1954 and 1956. Additionally, she won five consecutive national titles from 1952 to 1956.
